PTR Camelbeach 8/12/07
« on: August 13, 2007, 09:55:08 AM »
We're not much into visiting waterparks, but we decided to give Camelbeach a try on Sunday.  It seems the weekend must be the big time for out-of-state visitors as every car in the lot had either NJ or NY plates.  It was fairly crowded, but the lines were manageable and we had a fun day.

Triple Venom slides and Titan family slide:

Camel Cove water play area and Checkered Flag Challenge racing slides:

Scenic Chairlift:

Alpine Slide which is no longer used:

2 enclosed slides and 2 open slides:

Bumper Boats:

Looking back as we go up the Chairlift:

On top of the mountain:

Looking down one of the ski slopes:

Going down:

On the right is the Spin Cycle and Vortex bowl slides along with the Kahuna Lagoon wave pool:

It's pretty neat to see the transformation from waterpark to ski mountain.  Skicamelback.com usually posts some photos in October showing the transformation.  They completely cover the lazy river with large barrels and plywood to fill in the void.  You ski over it in the base area and would have no clue it even exists.  It's also pretty cool finishing a ski run and passing right next to waterslides.

Nice pics Sue!

Great Pictures Sue. I'm suprised that they don't have a small amusement park off to the side some where. You can tell this ski slope owner is very smart, they are covering at least two of the four seasons.

They do the same thing at Mountain Creek in NJ where it's a waterpark in summer and ski resort in winter.  We were there years ago when it was called Action Park.  I want to get back there again, but that'll probably have to wait until next year.

and Mtn. Creek one ups Camelbeach by having Mountain biking in the winter also (Some of the best in the country actually) and it used to have a skate park on top of that.

My friends just went to Mtn. Creek and they liked it. They said it was poorly run, but the rides were great.

Camelbeach is a sick waterpark. The Vortex is AMAZING. The body racers are also hella fun. A little pricey but a really fun place to go! FLOWRIDERS ARE MY FAVORITE!
