Continuing Scream Machine Coverage
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:54:08 AM »
It's July 1st, so what does that mean for Scream Machine? Early indications are that the coaster is open today, but we are working on getting verification of that.

What does it mean if Scream Machine is still running today? It could be a few things:
1. The rumors were not true, Scream Machine is not going anywhere
2. The rumors were true, but the park changed their mind (due to backlash, realizing it was a terrible idea, etc).
3. The rumors were true, but the date wasn't exact.
4. The rumors were true, but after seeing the blacklash the park has decided to throw an event together celebrating GASM and inviting last rides before it closes the coaster for good.

Our money is on #4, but we will see. When we hear something we will let everyone know.

Diana has also started a GASM Tribute Thread for everyone to post their memories of the coaster in.

You can also get up to speed on what is happening with Scream Machine by looking over this thread.

UPDATE: As seen on our Twitter, Scream Machine is still open. But for how much longer?

July 2nd Update: Scream Machine is still open today, and Six Flags has even decided to poke some fun at the rumors. Although we still think you should get your rides on it while you can!

Maybe it’s just me, but I read it to be closing on 7/1.  I take that as meaning it would be open today and closed tomorrow.  If it’s still open tomorrow, then something is definitely up.

As an update for today, Scream Machine is still running.

Also, we are 98% sure Chang is coming to the park. We'll be 99% sure when the parts start showing up, and 100% sure when the first one goes into the ground.

And that's only because the coaster pieces showed up at SFGAm and that didn't mean much, obviously :D

And we are pretty sure the plans are for it to replace Scream Machine, although if they found another part of the park for it that would be great. Don't get your hopes up, though.

The park just posted this along with a picture of GASM running on Facebook.

Quote
Look what I took a picture of today... and it's RUNNING! Guess that rumored date was wrong huh?

What's interesting is that they couldn't have taken the picture today because the white train is covered in the Axe deodorant wrap.

Not gonna lie, I'm amused by that Facebook post.

I love their response to your comment: "Shh Sue, I didn't want to walk there. What I'm saying is COME RIDE IT!!!"

Here's the best/funny/sad part of that post.

"Guess the rumored date was wrong huh?"

Rumored date of what Six Flags? What's going on? So you're saying the date was wrong but the rumor was right?

I think their post was amusing as well.  Almost makes you wonder if they're keeping it open a bit longer just to spite the rumor.

If they put it out near Bizzaro they can get more "traffic" down there, put a few up charge attractions and flats would be nice.

They should put it by Bizzaro and call it Medusa.

They should put near Bizarro because the park, and especially that area of the park, doesn't already have a B&M looper that starts off with a drop to the left, a vertical loop, and then a dive loop....oh wait.

I agree. It could anchor that entire corner. They won't though since it would involve more costly construction.  Although then they could re-theme it as Riddlers Revenge and really confuse people lol

They can build it in the parking lot, right next to Kingda Ka, thats the cheapest way.

They should put it in Movietown and paint it yellow and blue so guests who think that Batman and Nitro are the same ride can wonder how it goes from a sit-down to an inverted, then ends as a standup...
