The shoutbox was going nuts, so I had to start this thread.

Enjoy as much fish in the wild as you can...while you still can.

All I have to say is that in 10 years at this rate the only way I'm gonna be snowboarding is Xanadu. :(

It was in the 20's last year this time. There were really low wind chills as well. I remember freezing my fingers off as I work outside in this. Infact the whole season was freezing. I always wonder where you guys are in days like that.
Prepare to weather the storm!

Really its cause of overfishing, more people are eating fish thus making the demand much higher, global warming does not play a part in it at all....However I hope that something is done so that when i go scuba diving on a reef, i dont see just rocks with not fish nor coral :(

Actaully, i read an article on Wikipedia and i gotta say its a true fact and is happening, what is scary is if it kills off coral reefs, the whole ocean ecosystem will collapse! However, i accept global warming but dont believe these effects will happen as rapid as they say. We can solve all this with two words, atomic power

I just want some snow in the Mountains for Sking which WILL happen soon.
Denver mountains just got 48 inches of snow today.

I went fishing along the Jersey shore a few times this year and when we went to the bait shop they had a petition going so that we can still fish.
The state wants to halt fishing of certain fish (I forget what type) I think due to over fishing not sure if this is related or not.
I caught a few flounders and had a good dinner that evening at the campground.

Don't worry it will get cold and it will snow.
I remember in the early 70's we went 2-3 years without snow or very little.
Last year Feb 11 2006  NY city got a record 27 inches in one day.
North Jersey got 22
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_blizzard_of_2006

The Blizzard of 96 dumped 30+ inches in Philly and surronding areas a all time high.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_of_1996
I plowed snow for 17 years and worked that storm snow drifts 10 feet high :D
it was awesome.
My skis are ready
and about 5-6 years ago it was cold and stayed cold from thanksging to march.
Some years it will be cold some will be warm we have a El Nino year so the jet stream is far north.
this will change in the next few weeks

Gah, I don't even care if it snows alot.

As long as it's cold and isn't raining on the mountains, I'm happy. But for now...ugh.

I'll be skiing by the end of the week.
Low 20's and Teens in the Poconos this week
I was going to go Saturday but Have to watch the Eagles Beat New Orleans first.
Let see we broke a record high that was set in 1951.

Al Gore has a Movie out about Global warming (An Inconvenient Truth) I seen it and it is disturbing.Mostly about the Polar icecaps and Greenland melting.
But we will hit record lows again and get record snowfall again like we did less then 10 years ago.
Also Late December / January was warming then Oct, Nov.

I'll respond to this here...Wade :)

Its all due to the jetstream right now thats keeping mild temps in the States and all the cold in Canada.

Once it falls (February) we'll see some serious snow...

Thanks lol

I'm also bummed about the slopes because I was going to finally put my skis back on after taking 5 years off.  Thats hard to do after skiing for 10-15 years straight.  This was to be the year and so far, I'm screwed lol

You and every Jersey/Pennsylvania/NYC Skiier/snowboarder.

I've gotten to Mtn. Creek 2x this year. I had to check what was on my feet to assure I was gonna be snowboarding down the mountain and not mountain bike.

Riding up the lift and seeing grass EVERYWHERE is awful. Mtn. Creek has been closed for almost a week now and I doubt it'll be open this weekend either.

Wade
Blue Mountain just added this year a Highspeed 6 pack lift  the only one in the Pocono/NJ/NY area.
this lift is awesome and very fast   faster then the high speed quads.
Also in the last few years all the mountains added new trails and much much more snow making capacity with hundreds of new snow guns and more pumps.
With this they can rebound quick after weather like this.
most all Pocono resorts are closed until Wed / Thursday so give it a week or more .
Like last year it was cold in December , warm in January then Colder and snowier in Feb and March.
I was sking at Camelback in March and it was 100% open in the low 30's
SO there is plenty of time.

Best Deal is Mid-week Stratton Mt. in southern VT. $149 includes 3 days skiing and 2 night stay across the street from the lifts (lift tickets up there cost $70 a day ) so this is a great deal.Walk across the parking lot and get on the lift.I park my truck and don't drive it for 4 days. 310 miles from my house
We normally stay over one extra night and relax in the outdoor heated pool at night while it's snowing. don't go on weekends
60% of Stratton mountain

I'm a fan of Blue Mountain.  I just got back home from a little mid-winter vacay at Blue Knob with my girlfriend, our friend, and her boyfriend.  It was fun despite the lack of snow.  They finally got the snow they made to stay and the first day of skiing in over a week at Blue Knob was today starting at 1 PM.  We had to check out by 12 noon.
