If Kingda Ka wasn't a record breaking coaster do you think it would be torn down?
-
Due to it constantly breaking, and it costs $$$$ to fix over and over again, I think it would have be ripped back when it was originally opening. I never went on it until this season, since it was required that I go every weekend to have the chances to go on it as much as I have (never enough) I was always edgy about waiting 2+ hours for it too since it was stopping every hour for at least a half hour.

Keep in mind the ride had a 98% uptime last season. And this year it was fine until nature decided to whack it.
With that said, a 50+ million dollar investment isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I'd say they are basically stuck with it for a few more years at least.
-
It cost $25m to put one in, so I'm not surprised it now cost SF about $50m+ over it's lifetime so far.
-After it was struck by lightning it worked for about a month. What exactly happened this time around? I left for Cedar Point with Top Thrill and came back to a broken Ka. :(

Yes

I think if it doesn't work this season or next, then it's RIP KK

I'm going to say it's here to stay for awhile. It was running for the most part amazingly well, until nature struck which the ride caused in no way shape or form, just one of those freak things.

Trust me, they wouldn't be putting fourth the amount of money and effort required to get the ride back up and running if they were planning to tear it down. The custom part that had to be made should be arriving shortly and the ride will be making thousands of guests a day happy once again :).
-
^ Should be thousands per hour :)
-
Not at GA. It takes 10 years for the park to learn their lesson on each launch coaster. My guess is KA 2005-2014.
-
Maybe if they cant fix it, they'll just let it sit there...
-
Finally!
Is it texting that has ruined the world?
Don't wear out that hammer.
-
It better not go!
-
Fate can escape you, but no one can escape fate
In other words, all they're doing by fixing Ka is delaying the inedible
-
Inedible? Who's trying to eat Kingda Ka? :P Ka was fine last season, so I'm just taking this season as bad luck. :(
-
LMAO, I was going to fix that, but I need to leave it alone for the humor value :)
-
LOL. Yes, please leave that be. I still find it funny that anybody thinks they'd just tear out a 50+ million dollar ride that regardless of what enthusiasts think, is a major drawl worldwide for the general public.
-
lollollol :):):0:0:0:):)hahaha
-
I've asked some regulars/employees about kingda ka. they said it could be torn down at the end of the year. I heard that Universal Orlando might buy it.
Some stats about kingda ka
-soon to be 2nd fastest in the world. Building one in germany that goes 134.
-closed due to being struck by lightning and parts
-costs almost $2 million to upkeep it
