Parking Lot Expansion

Has anyone heard any news about the parking lot expansion? I think it was supposed to be discussed at the last board meeting on the 19th..

I haven't heard anything as of now. However, a parking lot expansion would be great, especially with the hotel coming. With the hotel, we will need a few more spaces. Also, on busy days, we won't have to use the HH lot.

I don't think a parking deck would be a very good idea, knowing the way Jersey people drive, haha. Not to mention the traffic going in and out of the parking deck! :shock: I think the plans were to expand towards 537 more.

I just think of how bad the parking deck at NJIT was at rush hours when I was there, and cringe at the thought of a deck at GAdv. If they could do it like Universal, that would be one thing, but somehow I don't think it would ever happen.

I also don't think the parking deck would work to well simply because of the mentality of those visiting the park.  However, MAJOR work needs to be done to make things safer and smoother.

On a positive note, I doubt the township will give them many problems if they wish to expand the lot since they have been complaining about the lack of spaces dating back to Superman taking up spots.

IMO, these changes simply have to do with the hotel and nothing else.  They probably just need permission to re-route some of the traffic lanes and reconfigure the flow to accomadate the hotel.

as wade said, i have a BAD feeling about what will happen with the hotel and parking for both that and the hotel.  

and, ive gotten close to a few accidents in that stupid parkinglot.. especially when your going by near superman and some idiot flies through there going the wrong way.

Even if they do not expand the lot this year, they have to think of another way to navigate it, because the one they have right now is terrible.

Oh I know, it's horrible. Which is why when I commute my 5th year, I'm taking the train! I also envisioned our parking deck when I posted before, it would not work at all at GAdv. :roll:

I agree that the parking situation is bad enough, and they really need to redesign the traffic flow in and out of there. I've also come close to a few accidents because of some idiot speeding through or going the wrong way. Especially at closing time. :?

There are a lot of places they can expand, such as in the very back of the lot, and even by the gas station.  I'm not sure if thats gadvs land, but there looks to be land for expansion, even though the walk to the park would be long.  Can anyone say tram?

A parking deck would be too complicated for some of the drivers to navigate. People can't even navigate the regular parking lot we have now let alone something with two levels. I do think bigger would be better and I am sure something is in the works to expand outwards, but which way outwards is up to SFI.
