Roller Coasters and Smoking
« on: June 27, 2006, 09:06:27 PM »
While busting smokers in the park, I started to catch onto a phrase I would hear repeated over and over, "You know how it is after you ride a roller coaster..."  So, I was wondering, do roller coasters really make people crave a cigarette?  If so, why?  I'm curious as to what people have to say on this.

non smoker
never did never will ,my mom was a nurse and shown me pictures of smokers lungs when i was about 4  years old. Life lesson learned.
My lungs are nice and pink , smokers lungs are gray/black with sticky tar.
I seen to many people die from smoking. It's happening to my father in-law now. :(

Sorry I didn't want to bring the mode down  8)

There's an In Memoriam on this board.

For Steven Urbanowicz.  Who many of us knew.

Steve smoked approximately three packs a day.  He loved life.  He was a wonderful man who wrote books about theme parks, but you never saw him without a cigarette...or at least looking for a place to have another.

This time last year, he was excited about filming the latest coaster special, recently seen on National Geographic.

And then, totally unexpectedly, right after the filming, he was gone.  Died.  Just like that.

Did the cigarettes do it?  No one KNOWS.  But I doubt they helped.

Please, and I hate preaching, if you are a smoker, at least think about quitting.

After riding a coaster, I usually feel like going on it again. I think when people say they need a cig after a ride, they are just looking for an excuse to have one, I don't see how someone can need one after a coaster or how it would help them relax. I've had maybe 1 or 2 in my life, back in like 8th grade, and they only made me dizzy and feel a little sick... I don't see how that calms my nerves.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!
