Cedar Fair to Aquire Paramount Parks
« on: May 22, 2006, 09:22:46 AM »
They seem to be following the Premier Parks trend - and we all know how that went  ::) .

I'm not sure how I feel about this  :) or  :(  ?

Do they add more trash cans and that sterile feel I get at Dorney.
Or they stop ordering  IJST's and purchase better rides.

I agree with Gregg about this, but I feel this is going to make them go down hill like SF did about 10 years ago.

I think that with some of the parks it will benefit them, they will have a park in the Mid-Atlantic now, also they will continue their monopoly in Ohio, but the park in CA seems pointless to me as I believe they own KBF out there....Should be intresting to see what they do, Chuck you may be right but Im not so sure, it seems like a good move for CF

I like the season pass parks thing.
Sometimes it pays to get a season pass at other parks just to get the discounts when they have Coaster events.
Sometimes free and/or just a few extra $ for the events.
I think the June 9th Dorney event is free for season pass holders ?
I say let them buy more parks more choices for season pass holders. Clementon park is for sale at only $15 million

I think that they will do better with this aquisition than Premier Parks did with theirs.  AFAIK, Paramount doesn't have a debt burden with their park chain, and they typically do well.  I don't know if it's the best move for CF, but it's not too bad of one.

KBF is as far from PGA as CP is from PKI, if not further...

Northern California and Southern California are two very different markets, and may as well be in different worlds.

Can probably nearly compare SFMW and SFMM in terms of distance as well.    This will be a REALLY interesting year to watch.

Knott's to PGA = 365 miles

SFMM to SFMW = 348 miles

So yeah Chuck ... pretty much the same.

And yes ... NorCal and SoCal are VERY different markets. Most people in SoCal probably don't even realize there is another Six Flags in CA or other parks outside of the greater Los Angeles area.
