If taking a ride down for a full year to refurbish it isn't thinking about the longevity of the ride, I don't know what is. You don't close a star attraction, just to mess it up, and tear it down soon after. Let's think things out a little bit more before we proclaim things.
Also, these co-signing posts that serve no purpose other than to say "me too" and raise up post counts need to stop.

So, even though it is a bit of cross-threading, why would Cedar Fair keep Son of Beast closed the rest of the season after the State of Ohio cleared it to operate again?
Oh, the intrigue...
Then there's Twisted Twins, standing idle at Kentucky Kingdom, to stay on the Six Flags subject. . .

No, it is not. At least not yet. The area where Chang was/is, is.

I like to think that Cedar Fair is trying to figure out what they can transform that massive pile of lumber into instead of rushing to tear it down or reopen it and eventually have to close it again when the next "incident" occurs.
As for the Giant, I am very curious what the thinking is there. Putting G-trains on it seems (to me) to negate the whole point of refurbishing it to make it more enjoyable for riders. I'm sure it all comes down to $$$$. :-/

And meanwhile, Twisted Twins sits, not working and not going to be working at any time in the foreseeable future, by all indications.

Yeah, that's interesting too. I'd be surprised if it ever opened again. I won't miss it. Perhaps they are just waiting to pay for its demolition when it becomes absolutely necessary.

No. Twisted Twins were fantastic coasters. But, like all CCI's they required maintenance. Lots and lots of maintenance. Something the old Six Flags was not always the best at. See also Villain at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure (and how it rode in the end) or MegaZeph... (or, different ownership...Cheetah, Hurricane at Pavilion, and on and on, some would even say Boulder Dash....)

Fantastic? Wow, really? I rode them when they were brand new (still putting the roof on the station) and never thought they were "all that." Fun, but not exceptional. And then of course they went down hill from there.
