It's being refurbished right now. Site work has already begun, but Flying Turns is still the priority so it might not open until at least 2011.

Black Diamond is the new name.

Are they rebuilding the actual structure?  Or just the ride.

mmm waffle ice cream !!! who cares about the rides, it's all about the food.

Seem as though they would rebuild it as if you were in a mine shaft to go along with the mining museum

Hey Bubba, you can still do ppp since we'll be at hhn the weekend before. I can't make it (again) since I'll be at a friends wedding.

They are building a new building (ha) for Black Diamond. The same track and trains will be used, but it will be a slightly new theme.

Flying Turns is the priority to open first. The park has said they won't do much with BD until FT is done.

The Turns *could* open in time for this year's PPP, but there have been major delays in getting the first train from Larson in Texas and I don't expect the ride to be ready this year, because if one thing goes wrong with the new train, they have to modify it AGAIN and that could set them back several more months. It's a lot of trial and error with getting this ride to work as there is no proven ride anywhere to base it off. The original Flying Turns rides never actually worked "correctly" to Knoebel's standards so they are trying to fix something that even the originals couldn't get right.

OK 2nd week of October but what does it stand for.

Pennsylvania Park Parade??? Best guess I got.

I'm down in 2010, unless it's invitation only. Apparently I will owe someone a Waffle sandwich by then.

PPP = Phoenix Phall Phunfest

It's been an annual Halloween event at Knoebels for the last 24 years, coinciding with the Covered Bridge Festival every October. It's usually the first weekend, but this year that falls a little early in October so it's the second weekend. The event is open to anyone--no enthusiast credentials required--and features 4 hours of park ERT on almost everything. It is the absolute best time to ride the phlyers and bumper cars because most of the riders know how to fly/drive quite well. The event is open to the GP though, so it's not all enthusiasts, but mostly enthusiasts and many of them make it a point to attend every year. Because of that, it's the one day where I get to see almost all of my coaster friends (from all over the country) all together at the same time. It is my absolute favorite event and I can't imagine ever missing it. I've been attending since 2005 (travelled all the way from Iowa three years in a row before moving to Pennsylvania).
