A Walk in the Park - Great Adventure
« on: May 26, 2009, 09:54:44 PM »
Ok so for many of you that do not know, Six Flags as a company hosts a variety of fundraisers to help raise money for cures to diseases and cancers. On June 14, they are hosting A Walk in the Park - Taking Strides to Cure Kids Cancer. To join the walk and donate money, it is $10.00 a person which includes entry, t-shirt, breakfast, and a walk bag. Moving forward, there is also an option to host a team of members.

I was thinking what better way to help the kids than to show how strong of a community we have here at Great Adventure Outpost. You can find more information on the link below but if you are interested, please leave a post so I can start forming a team. All the proceeds are going towards research and a bunch of Six Flags employees such as Mark Kane, Kristen Seibeneicher, and Jen Lawton have signed up to participate. It is going to be a blast.

A Walk in the Park - Great Adventure Information

UPDATE: If you want to join our team, just follow the link to the GAOutpost Team Page where you can click join this team or sponsor this team. Please, if you can make the walk, then come as it promises to be a fun time walking around with your fellow board members as well as many others. If you can't make the walk, then simply sponsor or donate to the team fund. I set the bar at $100 which is pretty moderate if I may say so seeing we have 300 members.

ADMIN EDIT: This is from the 2009 Walk.  Please see the post on the home page for 2010 details!

I'm in for this event unless something drastic happens
will try to get some Family and friends together.

Cancer is the worst thing   we need to find a cure for
I know so many people that have it and have passed away, family and friends and many very young.

OK I see the team with the Lowest Pledges or donations is at $40
Team GA Outpost can do better then that and if we do get our name on the Six Flags site

Here we go, this should answer alot of questions:

Quote
HOW MUCH IS IT TO REGISTER?

$15.00 for all individual registrants
$10.00 for teams of 10 or more
Children 3 and under ~ FREE
"Cancer Children" ~ FREE

DOES REGISTRATION INCLUDE PARK ADMISSION?

No, but if you raise just $50.00, you will receive a FREE ticket to stay all day at the park. Each walker is eligible for only one ticket. For example, you will not receive two tickets for raising $100. Tickets will be issued the day of the event at walker registration. Please note that tickets are only valid on the day of the walk.

WHAT IF I DON'T RAISE $50.00, CAN I STILL PURCHASE A TICKET TO THE PARK?

Walkers who do not raise $50.00 are still welcome to enjoy the park with a discounted admission ticket. Please visit WWW.SIXFLAGS.COM/CURE to purchase specially priced ticket packages online. Coupons for discounted tickets will also be made available on the day of the walk. A portion of your paid ticket admission will be donated to Cure Kids Cancer.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING AT THE PARK?

Parking is available for all walkers at no charge.

More questions can be seen on their FAQ page.

Alright I just registered on the page Clint put up. So far it's me and him! It's pretty self-explanatory on how to sign up on the team.

And I guess I'm the "Anonymous" Because I unclicked to let the general public sponsor me, or something. Trying to see if I can fix that :(

But yeah, anyone who wants to sign up or donate to our team go there!

If we raise enough money to hit our goals for the incentives, we may have a contest and raffle off the prizes to the winners. So we are talking a free park ticket, a group of tickets, or even a season pass.

I won't be able to walk that day.  If all goes well, I should be recovering from alcohol poisoning from a "Welcome Back to the Country...and the Government Will Let You Stay" party for my friend who just returned from a 10 moth deportation.  Much better than the 3 years it could have been. :)  Since we're re-celebrating the holiday's she missed, I'll be useless that whole day.

But I will be donating!  I have to support here, my department, and my friend, lol.  Lots of mullah flying around.

I just helped out a bit.
I was going to try to walk too but I think I'll be walking behind a lawn mower all weekend.
Have fun!

Thanks Ken!

Also an update, registration on the site is closed however you can still sign up by showing up at the park between 8AM - 9AM Sunday morning then walk at 9AM. Its going to be beautiful out and let me tell you, the park has some great photo opportunities before its open and the sun is rising. Its only $15 and you get a t-shirt, bag, and free breakfast. Can't go wrong with that deal.
