I heard the other day from some coaster enthusiasts that Kingda Ka was having issues again. I'm curious if this was true or not ?

It's true. It will probably be down until sometime in June. The nasty storms that moved through the area a few weeks ago caused some problems for the coaster.

Thanks. I plan to be there for Coaster Celebration. Hopefully they have it fixed by Coaster Celebration.

Is it down again? Anyone know for how long? I'm coming from Suffield, CT and I want to make sure it's open before going.

^ Don't ever leave. It is down again and it's always day to day , month to month , second to second. I know the park works on it 24/7 but sometimes it's just the luck of the draw if you're at the park when it opens. Come down for El Toro , that alone will make it worth the trip! Good luck.

I hate being Negative about Kingda Ka, so please go to the park and enjoy everything else and forget Ka even exist.

out of 9 visits ive made to the park, kk had ben open once, and luckily i got in 15 rides that day. does anyone kno what happened to it this time?

Im thinking its the same incident as before, just took the easy fix rather then the complete fix.

I called (SFGA) to see how long they expect KK to be down and the person on the phone with me said it'll take another 2 weeks (so it miiiight reopen the 2nd week of July, but there is no set date of coarse). Who knows if he knew what he was talking about. I got a few rides on it June 12th (it wasn't running all morning, but later in the afternoon it was running on and off)...
Although it's a bummer to come to SFGA from far away and not be able to ride KK, there are some other great rides (like El Toro) that make the trip worth it.

El Toro doesn't even compare to Kingda Ka. I mean if you've never been to gadv or never been on Kingda Ka, then yea I would be bummed too if it was closed, but once you've been on it, you forget it is even there sometimes.

If you want an update on KK, you can go to screamscape.com...they have a link to a picture of "cranes pulling out the ride’s hydraulic engine from the “engine house”". :-(

Today i found out that Kinda Ka will not re open. A staff member said that it got it by lightnig to much, and caused far too much damage. So in that case they sold it to japan.

oh, and for me the sadiest part is i just hit that 54' mark 2 days before i FOUND OUT IT WAS GOING!!!

Oh and sorry overlord, i did uses the search engine and found answers but i think i found my information from a reliable sourse ( please don't lock it)

About the only truth I can squeeze out of this is it not reopening after those storms last night for even longer. If gadv got hit by anything like we did then I find it impossible that ka didn't get hit again.

Anyway, kingda ka should be back open soon. I wouldn't even be responding to this thread if there was even a chance of it leaving the park.
