"Just rode the back 3 times....OMG! El Toro has met its match. The airtime is just so wicked, especially the drop, double up, and drop by the station. However the little hill between the 3rd overbank and the mcbr is the most insane hill ever...like Toro over RT just with more giving lapbars...the trains are awesome."

hmmm .. posted on a coaster site : )

Read some reviews on that site. Sounds way better than El Bull!

So is it finally time for that third coaster category?
The reviews on "that" site make it sound like a wonderful ride.
But they do seem to do that with every new ride.
Good job Six Flags and thanks Mark Shapiro!

It's a kickass Mine Train on steroids.. STEEL COASTER. Calling it a "hybrid" is just marketing. Voyage and countless other wood coasters have a steel structure. So are they reverse hybrids? ;)

Texas Giant will be the # 1 coaster of the Season. It will pwn all others.

Is that what Alvey is telling his slaves to believe?

It could easily be the best steel coaster, but no way is it gonna top Voyage's journey through the woods.

And since it's not an Intamin, how could it possibly be the best. Mr. Alvey?

A little off topic but..somewhat related.
Anyone know anything about the topper track that the Cyclone at SFNE is getting?
We all know about that back row!

Word has it it has already been placed. I guess they put it in because they thought it would be cheaper and more enduring than regular wood. It's only a part of the coaster, less than 10% of the layout, so I don't believe Cyclone will become a Texas Giant cousin...

On another note, I really hope that few woodies take this course. I can understand colossus taking this course because it's a p.o.s. anyways and even rattler (that thing has like a 10 ft sway in areas!) but I just don't think that EVERY woodie needs this treatment, like Alvey has suggested a few times.

The topper track is meant to "fix" problematic areas and not turn the ride into a steel coaster like TG. It replaces the top layers of the laminated wood track with steel, but doesn't have to be put everywhere on the ride. The same wooden coaster rolling stock can coast on the topper track and the traditional wooden track, unlike the full blown "Iron Horse" track that Texas Giant now has.

Since Colossus has been full of steel for years now, topper track is kinda redundant in that situation.

Rattler is a terrible layout as is and never was fantastic before all of the profile changes. A full Texas Giant style redo is more in oder for that ride than TG ever was!

Steel wheels on thin steel strips on laminated wooden tracks. The wood "gives" yielding that feeling only a true wooden coaster can dish out.
