December 27, 2005 Vegas' Stratosphere to remove coaster The Stratosphere hotel-casino in Las Vegas will do away with the High Roller roller coaster that sits atop the 1,100-foot tower. The coaster, which has operated atop the Stratosphere since it opened in 1996, was built by Premier Rides. Some four million people have ridden the relatively tame High Roller, which will be replaced by a new thrill ride, according to the AP.
