We walked over to The Boardwalk.
The old pics have been removed from the GASM queue.
GASM was running powerfully. I?m not sure if Matt liked it. Dainan and I think the ride packs one of the best punches at the park!
At this point my memory card filled up and my other card was in the car.
We went to Nitro and the end of the line was above the bottom of the steps. The crew was rockin?! Manager Kevin was operating and spitting trains out like the early-year crews. He did spiel about not leaving loose articles in the station to make the wait much shorter. I think it helps, but a hustling crew and the lack of mandatory height checks makes the biggest difference.
It was a great ride! We rode in the second to the back row. We went hands up on the top of the hills and tried browning out in the helix.
The Dark Knight: I don?t remember where the line started; Maybe halfway through the queue house; It went fast.
Our car was flying too! The wheels were spinning so fast, it sounded like a Matchbox wined-up car. I don?t think the sound effects were working on the flamethrower or truck, though. The coaster was great.
I touched the hairpin turn while going up the lift. There isn?t a set a brakes on the ride that can stop a car to allow all ten cars to ride and avoid a near-miss flyby. It would be bad if they ran all 10 cars.
We rode Batman: The Ride, in the front. We tried something that I hadn?t done in a while. We looked down the whole ride. Try it sometime, it's awesome! Again, the crew was kickin? butt.
Matt left us, and Dainan and I went over to the water ice and ice cream stand in the strip of concessions by Wiggles Port. The only flavor they had in water ice was cherry, but it was the best water ice I had ever had at a park.
Where in the park?
We walked right onto the back row of Skull Mountain. The drop was great. The pumpkin and the skeleton were lit up. And this was the first time I rode with strobes. (By the time I had my first ride in 1998, the strobes were off.) Good job Great Adventure. I hope to see more decorations and effects in the future. The crew was also pretty fast.
If Dainan worked there, he would look like this.
?Took the Sky Way across the park.
We exited through the Western Fortress and walked to Runaway Train.
We thought it would be nice if guests could walk on the top walkways of the Fort. It would make a great attraction or queue.
We rode in the front row of the back car. It was Dainan?s recommendation and it was a great row throughout the entire ride.
We crossed over to Plaza Del Carnival to Rolling Thunder. The line was just past the tunnel and moved pretty quickly. We sat in the back row of Lightning Flash. You might think it would be painful, but I had my cell phone in my back pocket. I avoided sitting on my cell by never actually sitting. Now this might sound like stupid advice coming from a former op, but it makes for a smoother ride. Just, don?t try it at Holiday World. I wasn?t standing; I just never touched the back or the bottom of the seat. Enough of this mental picture.
We went to the Boardwalk to ride the Parachutes. The ops were (probably instructed) to do the dumbest thing I?ve seen at the ride. AVMatt told me about this while he was at the park the week before. Each op was loading only one chute. Usually, one operator would load one chute while the other chute was in the air. This time, the other chute sat unused. Perhaps it?s a ride age issue. 6 other chutes were unused. I would wait in line for it if at least four chutes were used, but two chutes is too few.
Another ride on GASM: I had forgotten why some people complain about pain on this ride. Our train was ? empty and if the train is practically empty, it will cause some jolting vibrations (jibrations.) Still, it was better than the other multi-looper in the park to me.
We looked over to Superman:Ultimate Flight and we saw that only the last queue house before the station had guests. This was the first time I would be on the ride since April ?06 and it felt like getting on a new ride all over again. We went for the back row and watched as the crew flew through checking restraints.
The lift hill is crazy; The drop is awesome; And the pretzel loop is insane!
Well, on three hours sleep, I needed to call it a day. Bubba and I never met back up. Dainan had to return to Staten Island before he turned into a pumpkin. We stopped by Guest Relations to thank the crews. I didn?t ride one bad coaster or encounter one slow crew.
