If some of you have the chance, you should check out the Dorney Park Online forums.  They call themselves fans of the park, yet they're trying to sabotage SV getting approved.  They're actually talking about contacting the neighbors to tell them to fight the ride because it's too loud.  Poor babies are so upset about not getting their precious GCI that they want to mess with the park's plans instead of showing them support.  How immature can you get?  I'm sure these crybabies will be first in line to ride when it does open too.

oh my  ::)

Like these morons have nothing else better to do.  Ironically, other than the screams from happy riders, these things are fairly quiet.

Sue, have you or anybody else alerted the kind folks at Dorney about this?

Thats a first  What morons   they need to be smacked  :o
Trying to get a coaster not in a park ? - any coaster fan would love ANY addition.
any coaster is a plus Id rather have a new coaster then no coaster
and a Impulse is a good addition (only one in this area) and its saving them money.

Dorney will get A New Woody in time  :)

That's sad.  If they don't want it, bring it to Great Adventure where it'll be appreciated by fans and GP alike.

Seriously, why would any park 'fan' do such a thing?

Based on the most recent posts on DPO, it seems one of these troublemakers is a bitter former employee who probably got fired.

Roller coaster proposal for Dorney clears planners
By Sarah Fulton Special to The Morning Call
Plans for a state-of-the-art roller coaster proposed at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom have gotten a nod of approval from the South Whitehall Planning Commission.

Park officials want to erect a 184-foot-tall coaster powered by a linear induction motor, a type of motor used in rapid-transit trains and conveyor belts as well as amusement rides. The proposed ride would propel up to 28 passengers through a series of corkscrew turns at speeds up to 70 mph.

The township Planning Commission recommended last week that township commissioners grant conditional use for the new ride and approve the land development plans.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. of Sandusky, Ohio, the parent company of Dorney Park and several other premier amusement parks across the nation, has declined to release further information on the coaster. Cedar Fair does not plan to release 2008 capital spending plans for Dorney until October at the earliest, a spokesman has said.

Dorney's other coasters include Hydra, Laser, Steel Force, Talon and ThunderHawk.

In April, Cedar Fair officials received township approval to relocate two areas designated for tall rides to another location in the park to prepare for the the new roller coaster.

The areas had been established in 1998 for two new rides. One ride, Skyscraper, was removed in 2003, and another, Ripcord, was never built.

During a presentation to commissioners in April, Cedar Fair officials used a photo to illustrate the planned coaster, which shows a U-shaped ride with one straight spike and one twisted spike, just like Steel Venom, a ride being removed from the Cleveland area amusement park, Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom.

Cedar Fair owns 12 amusement parks, six water parks and six hotels, including Geauga Lake, a former Six Flags park.

Haha, Steel Venom as State of the Art, heh heh, Thats good that is got approved, Finally Dorney will give me a reason to go out to PA!

I never knew about Ripcord....but what I am curious is why they will need 2 "Tall-Areas" and not 1...?

One area will be for the forward spike, the other will be for the backward spike. They had a clearance for the Skyscraper, but this will be a little taller so they had to get "re-approved" I believe.

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Sonic is less than 5 minutes from where I sleep 80% of my time! I don't need your stinkin' Sonic/Voodoo trip!!!

Me too!!

Hopefully when I go and visit Lehigh sometime this winter Voodoo will be taking shape. It can't take that long to complete the structure for these impulse coasters can it?

I just hope the hold brake on the spike makes the trip to Dorney, and the park uses it.  Greatly improves the ride.

And there's a Sonic about 7 miles from me.  I never, ever go there.  It's Krystal I crave, and we ain't got none of those.  Or Gold Star Chili...none of those either.  Or the Cherry Hill Coach in guess where, New Jersey...  :)

Now I wonder, Could Voodoo be used as a gauge to see if its worth the money in buying Dorney a Woodie or is this just a bonus...

They need a sonic somewhere in the NY metro area, I had it in North Carolina and loved it!
