Park News - (9/5/07) A Screamscape spy reported in with a quick burst transmission confirming that not only will Chiller be removed, but apparently they?ve already begun the process of stripping the internal systems. At this rate it?s expected that the ride pieces could start to come down before the end of this season.
Well looks like someone let the cat out of the bag. Chiller will have fallen by the close of the year. They are, as mentioned before, removing all components of the LIM electrical room, as well as the computer room of the ride. Taking down Chiller, as I mentioned in a previous post, has many benefits. I guess somone finally deicded these benefits over ruled the downside to removing the ride. This will open up 250+ LIMs for other coasters in the Six Flags chain. The steel can be scrapped for a very high price, which could easily cover the cost of all they money they've flushed down the toilet in the past two years with the ride. The trains can be reused for parts on other LIM rides, and who knows, the station could even be converted to the new coaster's station. I know before there were claims Chiller would stay. Well, apparently someone finally said ENOUGH and decided to make a smart move; rip it to the ground. They gave it many chances; you cant say they never did. When they opened Batman last year, it constantly was picking up errors and destroying LIMs. Then when last year when the incident came about, they fixed ALL the damaged track they knew of, and resolved the upside down valleying problem. Then they replaced ALL the bogies on the trains, with supposvely better, stronger ones, with the mindset they would not crack and break apart as last years did. They were wrong. And then, even AFTER that, they sent engineers to the ride and called up Premier to have a look. Progress was moving at a terrible pace, and as the price of another repair grew higher and higher, someone finally, finally said the heck with it. They tried, they really did. The thing had terrible luck. Amazing potential, but never fufilled. Also; dont expect this new ride to expand into the arena / freefall spot .
Alright, we can actually talk about this now so lets make it official...Obviously, for those that could read between the lines on my post above, Chiller is going bye bye Yes, it sucks, but its one of those things that will be better for the park in the long run.I wanted to post this now because many of you may be on the fence about heading to the park tonight or this weekend but now knowing this you might be more inclined to make that trip to get a final look. Were still hush about 2008. Look for official word from the park VERY soon though
