Interesting train designs.
But that cuts the train capacity in half! ???
And why do that?
Middle seats aren't that bad.

Quote

VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - Canada's Wonderland changes the landscape
for thrill seekers in 2008, with the addition of Canada's biggest, fastest and
tallest roller coaster - Behemoth. Following 18 months of planning and
construction, Behemoth will premiere at Canada's Wonderland in May 2008.
At over 5,300 feet (1,616m) in length, Behemoth sets the stage for
thrills with a climb to a height of 230 feet (70.1m), followed by an
adrenaline pumping 85 degree drop with speeds reaching 125 kilometers per hour
in 3.9 seconds. The coaster then takes riders through the ultimate coaster
experience with high speed twists and turns, including double banked flat
loops (horizontal loops) and eight extreme drops. Intensifying the action
packed adventure, the ride features prototype open-air seating that will allow
all riders to experience an unobstructed view of the thrills and excitement of
one of North America's best coasters.
"Behemoth will be the biggest investment in Canada's Wonderland's 27 year
history at approximately $26 million dollars," said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice
President and General Manager, Canada's Wonderland. "With the addition of
Behemoth, we wanted to compliment our already impressive line-up of more than
200 rides, shows and attractions with a world class roller coaster that will
showcase Wonderland as one of the premier amusement parks in our industry."
Behemoth will be the 15th roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland.
Construction is currently underway, but those who cannot wait until spring may
take a virtual ride on Behemoth at www.canadaswonderland.com. Visitors to the
website may also access exclusive Behemoth updates and features including
virtual renderings, ride statistics and other online fun.
Behemoth was designed by Bolliger & Mabillard of Monthey, Switzerland, a
recognized industry leader in roller coaster development.

Canada's Wonderland is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment
Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New
York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Canada's
Wonderland, Cedar Fair owns and operates eleven other amusement parks, five
water parks, one indoor water park resort, and six hotels. Cedar Fair also
owns and operates Star Trek: The Experience, an interactive adventure located
in Las Vegas, and operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy,
California under a management contract.

Wow! This coaster looks insane! I am so jealous. I am very surprised with the 85 degree first drop, that beats Millennium Force  :o. The layout after the MCBR looks a little disappointing, however. The overbanked turnaround looks great-it seems very similar to Nitro's, but more intense. The three camelbacks after the turnaround look like airtime central for this coaster. The last surprising thing I noticed was the angle of the brakes at the end of the ride- it reminds me of Intamin's magnetic brake hill on Storm Runner. This looks like a great reason to get to Canada's Wonderland.

This only adds to my excitement for my trip next summer up the Niraga Falls/Canada area. Everythign about this coaster says "asesome" to me except for the trims going UP the 3 hills before the midcourse break run. Hopefully they are only there to slow the train if going TOO fast, and not there to STOP the train like Raging Bull's 3rd hill. Why build a ride WITH trims???? Seems like it would be a design flaw from the start. Why not just build it so it doesn't need it?

Yeah, that sucks about Chiller...I hate to see it like that. Hey, so we should get a group picture or something ok. I'll call you later!

Those trains are bizzare and odd looking, I think they should stick to the Four across....

As for the ride, this can possibly be their best yet, it looks like it will have ejector and floater in it as well as amazing intensity. As Rob said, hopefully the trims wont ruin this ride...

The trains are longer holding 32 people on each train.  So capacity is hardly any less than Nitro, will load faster and everybody will have a better view :)

Plus, longer trains = more airtime in the back :)

Wade, Sorry to burst your bubble of excitement but 3 trims on the airtime hills. I think that explains my point man.

My guess is that since its so much shorter, it doesn't look as steep.

Could be just the angle of the photo?   It looks just as steep as Nitro or El Toro to me.

Yea, to me it looks almost identical to Nitro's hill, maybe just a bit steeper. It looks like the steepest part of the drop is on the second support, going down the drop, not counting the highest support that is under the stairs (the second support going down after the supports that are under the steps). It could be the angle of the picture as well, that is just the closest picture of the drop's profile that I've seen.
I don't know if it was on this site or another coaster site, but someone said that it probably won't be 80 degrees, considering that Millennium Force has such a huge radius at the top, and is almost 100 feet taller. On the other hand, B&M and Intamin coasters have different designs, especially on the initial drops. Intamins tend to have big radius's and gradually enter and exit initial drops, while B&M's have small radius's at the top of the lift hill and enter the drop more quickly. That's just what it seems to me.

Check out the helix. it's massive! http://www.maj.com/gallery/Copeman/Behemoth/post.jpg

All of the hills look like they are twice as tall as Nitro. Do you think it is just becuase alot of the pictures of Behemoth are taken close to the ride, where Nitro you can't get close to due to where it is in the park?

It might be a little mix of both... the fact you can get close, and they are a little larger than Nitro's hills.

I used to be excited about this ride, but then I actually saw the "real" pics of the brakes on every hill, and now I'm just hoping it won't be like Raging Bull.

I also like how the press release said the drop was 85 degrees. There is no way it is 85 degrees.

And anyone that wants to argue that why would they say that? Well why did Busch advertise their Dive coasters as having two 90 degree drops when they clearly don't.

Ha!  Raging Bull was advertised as having "inclined loops."
